2022 surpreendendo: disco novo do Jethro Tull sai amanhã.

Enquanto Dave Grohl, Green Day, Bono Vox e outros isentões parecem preferir fingir de mortos e contabilizar likes.

Catei a letra.
“The Zealot Gene” sai amanhã.

“This was a great start to our careers in the USA and Reprise/Warner Bros. began to take us seriously as new contenders for the US charts.
Led Zeppelin kindly invited us to open for them on their first arena tour later that year and the Stand Up material was given a good workout to thousands of potential fans across the states. We supported the MC5, Blood Sweat And Tears, Grand Funk Railroad and many other innovative and exiting acts that year, but it was the Zeps who showed us the way and so to them I really must dedicate this remastered Stand Up, complete with the addiction of some of the other songs which were recorded around the same time.
The perennial ‘Living In the Past’ was recorded, part in New York and finished in LA, as the result of our manager Terry Ellis urging me to come up with a hit single for the UK during our absence in the USA that summer.
Of course, I didn’t really expect the song to be a hit since it was in an odd time signature (5/4) but somehow it caught the fancy of the UK audience and the BBC, so our survival in the UK was assured for a while at least (…)“
“During the hiatus in Tull‘s activities following the Stormwatch album and tours, I decided to make a solo album featuring new Tull member Dave Pegg and new pal Eddie Jobson (ex UK, Zappa band and Roxy Music). Eddie brought along his drummer friend Mark Craney, with whom he had been recording his own solo album, and we set to work in the rehearsal studio with some of the new tunes I had written.
In what was to turn out to be a landmark and not-too-wise decision, I asked Martin Barre to come and play on a couple of tracks. Martin complemented the line-up perfectly and ended up playing on the whole thing. The big and orchestral piano and synth sounds of Eddie’s keyboard rig were a powerful but not dominating feature of the end result and the Jobson electric violin fitted with the folk influences that sneaked into a couple of tracks.
But it was mainly to be a foray into a more hard-edged electric and less quaint music that emerged me to write and arrange the material.
But then came the surprise.
The finshed album was played to the record company guys and their reaction was to strongly suggest that the record be released – not as a solo Anderson Project – but as the new Jethro Tull album.
Tull drummer Barrie Barlow had gone on record as not wanting to continue as a band member anyway, but Evans and Palmer had started a new band called Tallis, to further their interest combining classical and rock music forms.
I deliberated, prevaricated and said I needed to talk to the other Tull musicians first to see where they were headed on their new projects but Chrysalis Records boss Terry Ellis went public in the press with the story that the new Tull line-up was to feature Jobson and that the other guys had been ‘replaced’.
Of course, to read about it in the music press was not the right or proper way for John Evans, Barrie Barlow and David Palmer to find out about the difficult matter and they were understandbly and rightfully pissed off.

To Mark, all too briefly a member of the extended Tull family: the Ian Anderson solo album that never was“.
Passeios aleatórios pelo You Tube rendendo descobertas insólitas.
Alguém me explicaria a causa, motivo, razão ou circunstância disso?
Nunca soube desse encontro. 2011. WTF!?!?
“This collection of hitherto unreleased recordings is now available at the request of the many hard-core Tull fans who have learned, over the years, of the existence of the material.
Most of the sessions for past studio albuns have produced and extra song or two surplus to requirements. Sometimes these pieces failed to make it on to a record because they were too similar to one of their brothers or sisters: sometimes, as the ear may just detect, because they were too different!
The infamous 1973 recording sessions at the Chateau D’Herouville, near Paris, were never completed due to ill-health, technical and production problems, and the sudden decision of the band to return to the U.K. from temporary and ill-advised tax exile.
Rather than continue with the Chateau Tapes, we decided to begin again with a virtually new work which quickly became the more down-beat and controversial ‘A Passion Play’. So, here we have it. Not a cup of tea for everyone, but a slightly dizzy night cap for old friends in need of that last draw before laying down their heads to dream of what might have been.

Este é o famigerado. O infame. O profano. And Justice For All”.

“Farm On the Freeway” e “Raising Steam”.
