ENCARTE: TRIPTYKON [2]

In its original guise, as a 1996 demo called ‘Relinquished Body’, this was the first song I wrote after Celtic Frost‘s original split in 1993, when I wasn’t part of any band. It has always been a typical Celtic Frost song in my eyes, which is the reason it was long left without a proper release – it had nothing in common at all with music we subsequently created with the industrial Apollyon Sun project. When Celtic Frost regrouped many years later, I submited this song for inclusion on the ‘Monotheist’ album. We played it during rehearsals, but it was ultimately rejected, not least due to its grand piano section.

I had written the original lyrics in a state of reflection, despondency, and disappointment due to the loss of the creative and personal bond with my closest friend and songwritting partner of so many years in Hellhammer and Celtic Frost. Alas, history seems bound to repeat itself“.
